Key Tasks and Deliverables:

The main responsibility of the Rel & Depl is to coordinate and facilitate the deployment of tested and evaluated NSoIT(D) developed releases from the production environment to the Operations, by ensuring that the sequence of event during a release process are run properly. Other responsibilities of the Rel & Depl include:

  • Writing, updating and support the development of Deployment policies and procedures and reviewing their implementation for the organisation;
  • Manage all aspects of the end to end implementation of NSoIT(D) processes and procedures;
  • Plan the deployment in conjunction with change and knowledge management and service asset and configuration management;
  • Ensure that NSoIT(D) deployment controls are documented and well understood;
  • Responsible for the final physical delivery of the service implementation, ensuring that a detailed deployment plan has been documented along with a roll-back plan;
  • Ensure that every NSoIT(D) product has been correctly integrated across the program;
  • Validate that the product has been correctly packaged before deployment and ensure that all release controls have been satisfied;
  • Work with the MMC, Jt ISOC CyISOC and appointed Lead User to deploy the product successfully;
  • Working with the MMC to support the development of the Information Services Assurance Plan (ISAP) outlining the support model for NSoIT(D) services
  • Coordinate release documentation and communications for all NSoIT(D) capability releases;
  • Release the pre-planned communications about the capability release to Jt User and the FLCs.
  • Provide guidance and support throughout the deployment process, including known errors and workarounds;
  • Responsible for providing feedback on the effectiveness of the release to Programme; Identify root cause for deployment-related downtime and participate in after-action reviews for production deployment activities;

The high-level outputs and acceptance criteria of the Rel & Depl Mgr are:

  • Production of Release and Deployment policies and procedures and their implementation for NSoIT(D);
  • Produce and maintain a detailed Release and Deployment plan, including roll-back processes and decision points, for the physical delivery of the NSoIT(D) service implementations for QNLZ CIP2 and LBS ensuring that a detailed Release and Deployment plan has been documented along with a roll-back plan;
  • Produce and issue all communications with respect to Release and Deployments to key stakeholders (Jt User and FLCs);
  • Develop systems to automate the Release and Deployment of NSoIT(D) software to infrastructure to minimise release-related downtime.

Experience Required:

  • Experience of deployed Operational Service Management;
  • Experience of working on multi mission domains on Deployed Military CIS
  • Knowledge and experience of the ISS capability Introduction and the Release and Deployment processes..
  • Ability to rapidly assess the risks and impacts associated with a change in plans;
  • Understanding of the tools that are used to automate deployments;
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications Required:

  • Ideally requires a Technical Bachelor’s level qualification in an IT or related field and/or several years of experience in release engineering;
  • Formal qualifications project management practices preferably PRINCE2 and Agile;
