Our digital, data and technology specialists work closely with experts in DWP Digital’s community to make digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the millions of people that use them every day.
Location – Corsham/Farnborough Data Centres (one at each site preferable)
We’re looking for an Engineer – Infrastructure Operations (Network Support and Data Centre Management) to work with us on one of the largest transformation programmes in Europe.
- As an Engineer – Infrastructure Operations (Network Support and Data Centre Management) in BPDTS, you’ll be working with a wide range of tools and technologies such as TCP/IP routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP, network services like DNS, DHCP as well as server virtualisation techniques NFV, SDN and SD-WAN
Please note that the team provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and as a result you may be expected to work as part of an on call rota.
You must be willing to undergo appropriate security clearance (SC).

1)Experience of network security products and countermeasure techniques, including firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN’s), encryption and authentication techniques
2)Knowledge in TCP/IP routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP
3)Knowledge in common network services, including Directory Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), and load-balancing techniques
4)Knowledge of Cisco data-centre products, including ACI and Cisco CCNP/CCDP certification or equivalent experience/skills
5)Knowledge of server virtualisation techniques, Network Functions Virtualised (NFV), Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Software Defined WAND (SD-WAN)
6)Awareness of next generation firewalls/application firewalls
▪Service reporting – production and presentation of management information and reports, dashboards.
▪Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
▪Ability to work in a disciplined environment under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
▪Works independently to deliver agreed outcomes – but works equally well in a team.
▪Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge; Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint.
▪Experience in the operation build and configuration, administration and support of IT Operations, application technologies and solutions – hardware, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages/solutions.
